Hollim

Hollim: one row of poured dwellings in watercolour along the curving shore of a pale fog sea under a cold blue-grey sky; each dwelling is crusted thick with feathered white rime on the side toward the fog and bare on the other, where its door and step are; a worn way runs beside the row along the shore.

HOLLIM

on the north sea

One row on the shore, and every house turned from the drift.

The fog comes in off the north sea here and does not stop coming. Every house at Hollim wears its rime on the side it comes from.

Doors and steps are on the lee side. You come and go with the fog at your back.

The rime is left where it builds. The mends are grey, and from a little way off you cannot tell them from it.

Nothing is cupped at Hollim. The fog comes in on its own and needs no holding, and what grows here grows on the lee side of the stones, where the rime does not build.

FrameA long rectangle. Hollim is one row, and the row follows the shore. ViewpointDrawn from above, as inhabited areas are.
