Senn

Senn: a dry pale plain in watercolour, a worn track running past a single row of small poured dwellings, each on its own plinth, with long low benches between them, and beyond the plain a flat grey edge with fog rising past it.
Cf. FilmThe ground the plate is drawn from.
SENN

the night before

The last halt on the way out. Everyone has stayed here the night before.

The rooms stand along the way out and their windows face it, and the tables in them are long, because nobody sits at one alone that night.

The ground is dry and nothing grows on it. Everything eaten at Senn was brought, and the ones who bring it come every turn whether anyone is leaving or not.

In the morning the way out runs west to the Shelf. The ones who walk out with you will come back along it the same day, and they will stop here, and the tables will still be laid.

FrameA long rectangle. Senn is built along the way out and no further. ViewpointDrawn from above, as inhabited areas are.
