Ivvel

Ivvel: a loose line of poured and carved dwellings of different forms in watercolour on a low grey-green rise, cool slate light, and beyond them a level sea of white fog to the horizon with no far shore; one faint worn path comes in from the lower left and ends at the last dwelling.
Cf. FilmThe ground the plate is drawn from.
IVVEL

at ivven's edge

A long way to leave from, and a long way back. One way in.

You came a long way to leave from here, and you will come a long way back. Ivvel stands at ivven's edge, and the way starts at the last house.

Between Ivvel and the Belt there is only the way. It is worn, and it is the only one.

The mends here are blue. You will know them anywhere.

The hollows run along ivven’s edge, lipped in blue. What grows in them you can see the sun through.

FrameA frame drawn on one side only, the side the way comes in by. ViewpointDrawn from above, as inhabited areas are.

How far is not recorded. How long is.

Office annotationIvvel is held on one way. The way is entered where it leaves Ivvel and where it reaches the Belt. Between them, the Office holds it as the correspondents walked it.
