one house deep
The longest row on the south sea, and the thinnest. The crossing to Ebbeth leaves from the middle of it.
You walked the whole length of Hossun to get through it, because there is no other way through: the row is one house deep, and the track runs along its back. Every house faces the sea. Nothing is built behind.
In the middle of the row a spur runs out to the fog's edge, and that is where the vessels for Ebbeth are set out in the evening. You went across from there, or you watched someone go.
The mends are lilac, and on this shore they are the only colour. Below the last step the hollows run the length of the row, one to each house, and the row is as long as it is because nobody builds in front of another's hollow.
